Uncanny X-Men are back and they are loving it!!!!
The 80s sensation that was Uncanny X-Men are back and it’s like they never stopped performing together and you know what - they are still rockin’.
Who are they you might ask – well Uncanny X-Men are an Australian pop/rock band who formed in Melbourne in 1981. They fast became a popular live act around the busy Melbourne’s pub scene and would sell out venues due to their popular performances and stage antics of lead singer Brian Mannix. 1985 was the peak year of their popularity where they were seen and heard on every TV channel (Countdown (including several as a hosts), Sounds, Hey Hey Its Saturday) and Radio station and print media across Australia. In the early days, they had a regular gig supporting Cold Chisel at the Pier Hotel in Frankston.
In 1982, Mushroom Records signed the band as they knew they were going to explode in popularity - similar to the likes of Skyhooks and Sherbet of the 70s (and Gudinski was right). The X-Men toured with two major international acts Joan Jett and the Blackhearts (1982) and Rod Stewart (1985).
In 2018, they are older and wiser but still know how to rock!
As Molly Meldrum would say ‘Do yourself a favour’!
